Claiming Against An Untraceable Driver

If you have been involved in an accident with an untraceable driver, you may not be aware that it is still possible for you to make a claim for compensation.

The Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) was established to ensure motorists involved with uninsured or untraceable drivers would still be able to receive the compensation they deserve for their injuries.

In addition, you can also receive compensation for the cost of the resulting medical care, insurance costs, damage to property and any loss of earnings you may have incurred.

Making A Claim

If you have suffered an injury in an incident involving an untraceable driver, there are certain criteria which must be met for your claim to proceed.

As well as being able to prove the accident was someone else’s fault, the incident must have taken place within the last three years.

You do not have to be the driver to seek compensation for any injuries sustained, if you were the passenger in a vehicle struck by an untraced driver, it is still possible to make a claim.

For any passengers under the age of 18 at the time of the accident, the legal cut off point for claiming reverts to three years from the date of the individuals eighteenth birthday.
