£125,000 for anniversary party knee injury victim

Croftons Solicitors have helped secure £125,000 for a woman who suffered a serious knee injury after tripping over unsafe decking at a party.

The victim was attending a party at the defendant’s premises when she went outside at around 9:30pm to have a cigarette. The defendant had provided a raised decking for guests to use as a smoking area, and as the victim was climbing the steps she caught her foot on a tap that was attached to a metal planter and protruding onto the staircase.

This caused her to fall forwards and land heavily on her left knee, causing a severe lateral tibial plateau fracture to the left proximal tibia. Her injuries required two operations to replace the knee, one of which involved the removal of metalwork. She also needed to undergo a course of physiotherapy.

Our experts gained an admission of liability from the defendant, which allowed us to ensure the compensation settlement covered all of the victim’s medical treatment on her journey back to health.

The victim was delighted with our services, particularly as she had taken her case to another firm prior to speaking to Croftons and was told she “would get laughed out of court”.
