At Croftons Solicitors, we have helped many people who have developed tinnitus as a result of their noisy working conditions. However, we know that developing tinnitus can be very frightening for victims, who may experience permanent damage to their hearing.
Tinnitus Awareness Week (Feb 2-8) aims to provide support for sufferers and make others aware of the causes and symptoms surrounding this condition. This year, they will be putting on information stands and a range of informative events around the country, including the Greater Manchester area.
Where can you get information?
There will be tinnitus stands throughout the week at Fairfield General Hospital (Bury), Withington Community Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital and Nye Bevan House (Rochdale).
The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester city centre will also be hosting a stand on Wednesday (Feb 4). Musicians are among those most susceptible to tinnitus, as indeed are people who work in environments where loud music is a feature, such as nightclubs and concert venues.
There are also a couple of events you can attend at locations in Manchester on Wednesday (Feb 4). Professionals in Partnership will be hosting a Tinnitus Awareness information stand at Bury bus station from 10am-3pm, while the Manchester Tinnitus Support Group will be at Manchester Deaf Centre from 12pm-3pm, where two hearing specialists will be available to advise anyone who is worried that they may be experiencing tinnitus symptoms.
This year, you also have the opportunity to help others using the Text4Tinnitus service. Simply text TINN15£4 to 70070 and you will donate £4 towards the charity’s work supporting sufferers of this potentially life-altering condition.
