Croftons have helped secure £3,500 compensation for a man who was injured falling from a ladder at work.
The claimant and a colleague were carrying out roofing work in November 2011 when the accident occurred. Despite the initial assessment of the job revealing that scaffolding would be needed, none was provided and there was no one to steady the ladders while both men carried out their work.
This led to the claimant’s ladder slipping, causing him to fall from a height of around two storeys. He landed on his back and, while the injury was not as severe as first feared, it was 12 weeks before he was fully recovered.
Croftons Solicitors were able to achieve a settlement of £3,500 for our client to compensate for his injuries and time off work.
Afterwards, the claimant said: “The case was handled in a clear and professional way. Everything was explained clearly and I was kept in the loop.”
Claiming compensation for ladder falls
While the victim in this case was lucky not to suffer a serious injury, falling from a ladder can potentially lead to problems that can affect a worker’s career and life as a whole.
Employers have a duty to ensure they provide a safe working environment for their staff, and it is clear that did not happen in this case.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, it is vital to get in touch with an experienced personal injury solicitor as soon as possible. These claims must be made within three years of the accident occurring or you will become ineligible for compensation.
