Croftons Solicitors have helped to achieve a £5,500 settlement for a woman who slipped on a wet hospital floor as she attended an appointment.
The victim was 34 weeks pregnant with twins at the time of the accident, and was attending hospital for a routine antenatal appointment.
However, on her way to the clinic she slipped and fell in a patch of water on the corridor floor. This was found to have been caused by a leaking roof at the hospital.
She sustained a soft tissue injury to her lower back and had to be kept in hospital for a week following the incident. Not long after the fall, her twins were born prematurely.
Croftons Solicitors help secure back injury compensation
While no link could be established between the fall and the premature birth, Croftons Solicitors were able to secure compensation for the back injury the woman sustained.
The £5,500 final amount covered not just the pain and distress caused by the incident, but also the extra care she subsequently required to look after her newborn children while she recovered from the injury, which took around 20 weeks to heal.
The client was very satisfied with the advice Croftons gave her throughout the process, and was particularly impressed at the speed with which her messages were followed up by the team.
Claiming for slips, trips and falls
While the nature of this incident was obviously more worrying due to the victim’s pregnancy, accidents like this can happen to anyone. If you suffer a fall indoors and the fault lies with the person in charge of the building, it is possible you could be eligible for compensation.
